There’s a 99.9% change that animal print might be taking over the world right now.
If you have by some chance, been living under a rock for the best part of AW’18, then let me inform you that animal print is THE trend of the season and it seems to be growing by the second.
Gone are the days where animal prints are too loud for every day wear, thanks to the runway people are now feeling chic and stylish in the prints rather than worrying they look tacky and ‘too much’.
Animal prints are becoming an almost neutral within our wardrobes, this season has been an eye opener to fashionites alike as we realise that they really do go with everything!
With the shops filled with every animal print you could possibly think of – I have scoured the shops to find the best pieces on offer on the British high street.
Without a shadow of a doubt, nowhere is doing animal print better than Zara.
They have everything – from leopard to snakeskin – and everything in between!
It was a tough job narrowing it down to just five pieces, when there are at least 15 pieces on my wish list.
So without further adieu, here are my Top 5 Picks from Zara:
This gorgeous grey toned midi skirt is too die for! Not only is it pleated (another big trend for the season) but it is buttoned down and comes with a fabulous black belt that is removal if you so wish. It literally goes with everything – t-shirts, blouses, chunky knits. My favourite way to wear it has been with knee high grey suede boots and a big chunky grey knit for a monochromatic chic look.
2. Long Leopard Print Dress (£39.99)
I first tried this dress on when I was doing a personal shopping session with my mum. She has a soft hourglass figure and when she put this dress on she looked amazing so I had to try it on too! I am much less curvaceous (sadly) than my mum, so I wasn’t sure it would have the same effect on my figure – but it did! Proving that this dress is a winner for multiple body types. It is sophisticated and can be tailored to your preference with the buttons on how much leg/cleavage you are comfortable with showing. The belted detailing nips you in at the waist and created a gorgeous silhouette. This dress is so easy to throw on, add a camel coat and some white ankle boots and you’ll be ready to take on the world.
3. Snakeskin Pritn Blouse (£39.99)
Okay, so I first found this blouse and instantly fell in love. It is a thin crepe material, with a collar and wrap over detail. I love that this blouse is slightly longer than many of the blouses in the shops at the moment, as not everyone likes the cropped look. I had at first been wearing this top with flared jeans, and it also looked great with a pair of mustard coloured wide-leg trousers I had also picked up from Zara. UNTIL I saw online that my favourite top was actually part of a co-ord. Containing excitement till I get to Number 4…
4. Snakeskin Print Flared Trousers (£39.99)
YES IT’S TRUE – These amazing flared trousers are an exact match to the blouse from Number 3, and it was a happy day for me when I first wore them together. My sass levels were at least an 11 out of 10. It’s one of those outfits you put on and you instantly feel put together. It looks great with trainers and a camel coloured chunky knit or coat. Equally, teamed with a pair of killer heels – you’re ready to hit the town! A perfect co-ord that I know will stay in my wardrobe for years to come.
5. Animal Print High Heel Ankle Boots (£39.99)
It took me a while to find the perfect pair of snakeskin boots. I tried on at least ten pairs in various different shops. I knew in my mind what I was looking for and the ones I was trying were either the wrong shade of print or the heel was slightly too high for every day wear. Then I stumbled across these – perfection! They were the exact colour I was looking for, a wearable sized heel to run around London in and best of all, they were actually comfortable. They go with everything and really make a monochrome outfit pop.
I hope these picks will be helpful to those of you looking how to incorporate the trend into your wardrobe this season. My top tip is to not be afraid of animal print, anyone can wear it and there is so much choice out there – there’s something for everyone.
