Aadnevik LFW Show

September 17, 2018

During LFW, I got the opportunity to attend the “AADNEVIK” Fashion Show to see the brand’s latest collection inspired by the classic story of Alice in Wonderland. The collection takes you on Alice’s quest to understand the puzzle of Wonderland and her journey to recognise the forces and feelings that compromise her identity. Aadnevik describes the story that motivated his Spring Summer ’19 collection as ‘a world of mystery, innocence, sadness and bewilderment.’

The brand is a London based luxury womenswear label and is named after its designers – Kristian and Hila Biton-Aadnevik. The label is famously known for its dreamy evening gowns, with it’s defining themes a blend of opulence, sensuality and gloom.

This combination of luxury and sensuality consumed us from the moment I arrived – not only within the collection but also with the choice of venue, luxe hotel “The Royal Horseguards.” The decor of the show space was breathtaking, a slice of heaven somewhere between Wonderland and the Garden of Eden. Vibrant colours and props filled the venue, transporting you to another world.

When I entered the showroom, I was offered a glass of champagne on arrival. Guests were divided into 3 groups (backstage pass, seat, or standing space) I waited for the backstage group to go in first, whilst I waited we spent some time at the champagne bar, taking pictures and talking to the other guests.

After everyone was seated, the show began. The thread that ran through the whole collection was the tulle textile, the transparency and the feminine silhouettes. The shapes were flowing, some contained feathers, others embellished with delicate details layering the dresses. The metallic materials reflecting the dreamlike setting. The colours ranged from white, blushed nudes, light blue, red, gold and even neon yellow-green. The make-up was really dramatic with blue glittery eyeshadow, the hair was hanging loose with a doll’s hair crimped effect.

Overall, every single dress was absolutely stunning and reminded us of a modern fairy tale. My favourite showstopper was a white dress with feather sleeves and fishtail detailing. It was beautiful and made me not only fall in love with the collection, but also with the brand itself. The show was amazing and I felt so grateful be apart of the experience.
